Obituary

WILLIAM (BILL) FLIMION BRADEN JR LEFT THIS EARTH TO GO TO HIS HEAVENLY HOME ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2021, HIS 80TH BIRTHDAY. BILL WAS BORN ON SEPTEMBER 1st, 1941 TO WILLIAM FLIMION BRADEN SR AND MILDRED QUINN BRADEN. BILL GREW UP IN EASTLAKE AND ATTENDED BARRETT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND WOODLAWN HIGH SCHOOL. WHILE ATTENDING SAMFORD, HE WAS DRAFTED INTO THE ARMY AND SERVED OUR COUNTRY IN VIETNAM. IN MARCH OF 1966, BILL STARTED HIS CAREER AT VULCAN MATERIALS COMPANY. WHILE WORKING AT VULCAN, BILL MET AND MARRIED CAROLYN MYRICK. DURING THIS TIME, HE COMPLETED A BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA IN BIRMINGHAM. HE WORKED DILIGENTLY FOR VULCAN MATERIALS FOR 43 YEARS AND RETIRED AS AN ADMINISTRATIVE EXECUTIVE. BILL IS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, WILLIAM FLIMION BRADEN SR AND MILDRED QUINN BRADEN, BELOVED WIFE, CAROLYN MYRICK BRADEN, AND DAUGHTER, PAULA BLANKENSHIP. BILL IS SURVIVED BY HIS SISTER, FAY ELAINE BRADEN; SON, SCOTT WATKINS (TAMMY); DAUGHTER, LORI GOEHRING; GRANDCHILDREN, HEATHE WATKINS, MATTHEW WATKINS, ALEX REESE, ALAYNA GOEHRING, LINDSAY BLANKENSHIP, AND ASHLEY BLANKENSHIP. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, THE FAMILY ASK THAT DONATIONS BE MADE TO THE WOUNDED WARRIOR FUND OR THE BIRMINGHAM HUMANE SOCIETY.

A GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2021 AT JEFFERSON MEMORIAL GARDENS AT 10:00 AM.
