March 29, 1985 — April 17, 2021

Jefferson County, Alabama

Phillip Andrew Gambrell, 36, passed away unexpectedly on April 17, leaving an indescribable void in the hearts of so many. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Karen Osburn Gambrell; his parents, Bob and Priscilla Gambrell; brothers, Robert Gambrell (Erica) and Jeff DeShazo (Heidi); grandmother, Dorris Drummond; mother and father-in-law, Patricia and Donald Osburn; grandmother-in-law, Joanna Reed; sisters-in-law, Stacie Osburn and Lisa Majerik (Matthew), brothers-in-law, Michael Osburn (Rachel) and James Sands; nephews, Tristan Boso, Connor Osburn, Mason Majerik; nieces, Halle Boso, Elisabeth Boso, Lauren Gambrell, Audrey Osburn, and Nora Majerik; godchildren Aiden and Elena Dennis; and the best dogs, Roman and Rosita. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Leon and Thelma Gambrell; grandfather, Cleveland Drummond; grandparents-in-law, Dennis and Betty Osburn; Ernest Reed; and sister, Rebekah Gambrell. Phillip did a lot of living in his short 36 years, traveling the world through his career in building automation. His travels took him to places such as China, Peru, Mongolia, Mexico, and Morocco. Phillip easily captured the hearts and laughter of all who knew him but especially his nieces, nephews, and godchildren who adored him. Uncle Phil Phil would pick them up from school for an adventure and then return them home with enough sugar in their systems to stay awake for three days. Due to covid, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
