Kathleen J. Hightower

Kathleen J. Hightower, 72, of Trussville, Alabama died Wednesday January 7, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. William and Louise Jenkins of Sarasota, Florida and her brother William Jenkins, Jr. of Collettsville, North Carolina. Survivors include, her children Angie Nalley (Eddy), Catie Hightower, Wendie Loizzi ( John), Jessica Sutherland (Mark) and eight grandchildren; brother, Carey Jenkins (Sue) and her sister Susan B. Jenkins. Kathy graduated from MUSC in 1970 then moved to Birmingham, Alabama. Over the next twenty years she worked while raising her four daughters. She then moved back to South Carolina and worked full-time at Beaufort Memorial until 2015 when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. After fighting for two years she moved to Trussville to be closer to family. Her faith and family kept her strong. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. A visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10th with a service to follow at 3:00 p.m..
