Harold Vickery

February 29, 1944 — August 1, 2021

Harold Allen Vickery, aged 77, of Trussville, AL passed away on August 1st, 2021 at St. Vincent’s East in Birmingham.

Harold (known to his grandchildren as Poppa) was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Alfred Henry Vickery and Mildred Aileen Vickery (Murphree). He was born in February of 1944 and was raised with three other siblings, Carole Somers (Paul), Robert Vickery (Deborah) and Larry Vickery. He married the love of his life, Beverly Anita Drain, on October 27th, 1972 in Birmingham. During his career, he worked as an Operations Manager for J.C. Penney, Macy’s, and Walker Drug Company.

He was an active member in his Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Trussville. He valued his relationship with Jesus and is without a doubt with Him today. He greatly valued his friendships including going out to eat weekly with his closest friends.

Growing up, he developed a love for animals, music and Auburn Football. He always said that if he could do it all over he would have been a Veterinarian and attended Auburn University. He would have been an excellent one! In addition to these things, he had a deep passion and love for his family especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ailene Vickery, and his oldest son, Barry Vickery. He is survived by his beautiful bride, Beverly Vickery, and his son Cameron Vickery (Amber), his grandchildren Hannah and Ethan Vickery (Children of Cameron and Amber), Hudson, Mckenna, and Cahlen Vickery (Children of Barry and Kandice Vickery). He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Vickery (Deborah) and Larry Vickery, as well as, his sister Carole Somers (Paul) and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was known as the life of the party and was always “holding court” at every event and party he attended. He is loved tremendously and will be forever missed.
