Gertherlene Kirk

Mavis Gertherlene Kirk (93) was born December 3, 1925. She was the daughter of the late George Felix Kirk, Sr. and Martha Lou Daisy Finch Kirk in Lamar County. She was also predeceased by her brothers, George Felix Kirk, Jr., James Cecil Kirk, a sister, Marie Kirk Shelnutt,  an infant brother and a nephew, George Kirk Westbrook. She is survived by her sister, Glenith Kirk Westbrook (Howard Ward Westbrook-deceased)  nephews Stephen W. Westbrook (Wanda), Jerry Wayne Shelnutt (Linda), Charles Milton Shelnutt (Pam), Shan Felix Kirk, Sr., Sherell Wynona Kirk, Daisy Yvonne Kirk, Cecilia Joyce Kirk, Janice Coleen Kirk Blanton, Mary Lou Theresa Kirk Smith, and great nieces including Stephanie Nichole Westbrook Turner (Stewart) and Sarah Michelle Westbrook Trefethen (Van).

She worked for the United States Navy, Bureau of Ships, U.S. Army and The Birmingham Ordnance District in a civilian capacity. She worked at the Social Security Administration Program Service Center for 38 years.

Services for Miss Kirk will be Monday, November 25, 2019 at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. with visitation one hour before the service.
