Fred Gene Hinds, 89

Fred Gene Hinds, 89, of Locust Fork, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at home. He was born in Tarrant City, Alabama on August 7, 1931 to Florence Harvey Green and Orville Lee Hinds.

Fred had three older sisters, Ruth Hinds Reiner (Deceased), Bessie Lee Hinds Elliott (Deceased), and Sara Joe Hinds Ferguson; three brothers; James Austin Hinds (Deceased), Charles Ray Hinds (Deceased), and Henry Lee Hinds.

Fred served his country as a U.S. Navy Veteran and was active in the Korean War.

Fred is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patsy Walker Hinds of Locust Fork, Alabama. Previous to Patsy and Fred’s marriage, he had 51 years of marriage to Geneva Green Hinds who passed July 29, 2003. They loved and were proud of their two daughters, Donna Hooper-Harwick and husband Randy of Birmingham, AL, and Bobbi Jean Foster and husband, Michael of Slidell, Louisiana. He was survived by three grandchildren; Christopher M. Hooper and wife, Jill; Michael B. Hooper, and Nicholas A. Foster; two great grandchildren, Christopher B. Lippincott and Brandon T. Hooper.

In his marriage to Patsy, he cherished the relationships with his three step-children, Debbie Walker Parsons, and husband Gary; Kristy K. Walker White and husband, Darryl, and Barry H. Walker and wife, Amanda. They shared five grandchildren: Joshua Parsons and wife Liz; James Daniel White and wife Becca; Kaylin White McGuffie and husband, Sam; Hanna M. Walker and Beck H. Walker, and two great grandchildren; Madeline Parsons and Ruby White.

Fred led an amazing life from start to finish. His life was full and he was a true servant for the Lord.

Chapel services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, Alabama on February 23, 2021 at 12:00 noon. There is public viewing from 10:30 AM until 12:00 noon. Graveside services to follow at Sunrise Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the Locust Fork Baptist Church, located at 30580 State Highway 79, Locust Fork, AL 35097, (205) 681-2254, in Fred’s memory.
