Ethel Mcginnis

February 19, 1930 — March 25, 2020

Ethel lee McGinnis, a resident of Birmingham Al, died on Wednesday March 25th at the age of 90.

Born in 1930 in Double Springs Al. As a child she helped her mother and father maintain the cotton fields and farm following her fathers stroke. She spent years of her young life caring for her father and siblings. She married Neal Glover and had 3 children, Teresa, Karen, and Gene. In the years following Neal's death she remarried to Neil McGinnis and Kim was born.

Her work career includes being the typist in the window at Loveman's. She was known for her fast typing and spelling accuracy. Later in her work career she became the secretary of the President at the Birmingham Post Office until her retirement.

Ethel lee was known for her kindness, beauty, warmth of soul, and giving nature. The matriarch of the family. She took great pleasure in spending time with her grand babies and great grandbabies.

Her biggest heartache was the loss of her middle child Karen in 2014.

She is survived by Teresa, Gene, and Kim. Grandchildren Don, Erik, Jacob and Jesse, and 5 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.

She had a deep faith in Jesus and enjoyed singing hymns with her friends in the last year.

Her arrangements are being made by Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens. A graveside service will be held on Saturday March 28, 2020 at 3:00pm.
