Donald Rhodes

April 25, 1939 — June 15, 2020

Donald Ray Rhodes, age 81, passed away on June 15, 2020. He was a retired police sergeant from the City of Birmingham where he spent more than 23 years. He also served his county as a naval officer aboard the USS Toledo as a commercial photographer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 255 in Fultondale, Al. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Virginia Rhodes; wife, Patricia Rhodes; siblings, Elizabeth Anthony, Harry W. Rhodes Jr., Robert H. Rhodes, and Pat Glezen. He is survived by his two daughters, Debbie Chamblee (Don) and Cindy Nelson (Chuck); sister, Carol Plunkett; grandchildren, Ashley Whitehead (Ronny), Tyler Skewes, Brian Nelson (Amy), Haley Nelson, and Kayla Nelson; great-grandchildren, James Nelson, Jackson Nelson, and Sydney Whitehead. There will be no visitation at this time. A chapel service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, Al at 10 am on June 20, 2020. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
