Celia Owens

September 17, 1939 — July 1, 2021

After decades of crippling arthritis, Celia Kirkpatrick Owens, age 81, of Birmingham, AL passed away July 1, 2021 and walked pain-free into the loving embrace of Jesus. She was a native of Carbon Hill and a graduate of Dora High School where she played basketball. Celia received her Bachelor’s at UNA, previously known as Florence State College. She married the love of her life, Donald Jerome Owens in 1963. They moved to Center Point, AL where they raised their children. She was a member of North Clay Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafting and playing games with friends and family and was a huge Auburn fan. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Kirkpatrick, and Lucille Kirkpatrick Jent and a brother, Tommy Kirkpatrick. Celia is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Donald; her two children, Rusty Owens (Dana) and Melanie Edmondson (Jay Schmidgall); grandchildren, Emma Grace Edmondson, Lilly Kathryn Edmondson, Micah Russell Owens, Zoe Elizabeth Owens, and Ally Mai Owens who will miss CeCe very much. She also leaves behind a sister, Peggy Hyde (Bill). The funeral service for Mrs. Owens will be held at Jefferson Memorial Chapel on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her honor to The Arthritis Foundation.
