Carl Jones Jr.

d. March 20, 2020

Carl Lytton Jones, Jr went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2020, at the age of 85.   He lived a blessed life here on earth, filled with happiness, success and most of all love.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Dillon Jones, the love of his life.    He is survived by his 4 children;   Pam Thornton (Larry), Sharon Lowe (Clay), Carl Lytton III, and Carla Roberson (Michael).   The Jones clan grew with the addition of 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, giving Carl his most loved title, "GRAN!"  Carl was born to Eloise Branch and Carl Lytton Jones, Sr, whom both preceded him in death.  He is survived by his devoted brother, Ronald Charles Jones (Ann).  He was a Woodlawn High School and Auburn University Graduate.  He was a LT. C.E.  of The United States Army.  Carl worked for Alabama Power and Shook and Fletcher as a Civil Engineer, where he became the Vice President.  He had many hobbies but yard work was his all-time favorite.  He enjoyed going to the beach, traveling with Supper Club, and being at every event participated in by his grandchildren.  He was an active member of Huffman Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as a deacon, sang in the choir and participated with the Handy Man Ministry.  He always enjoyed helping others.  He volunteered at the Eastern Christian Food Pantry and donated blood every chance he could. Carl lived life to the fullest and was happy every single day.  He always had a smile on his face and a huge hug to give.  He enjoyed indulging on his sweets, milkshakes and cookies were his favorite.  He was blessed with many close friends and family.  He was proud of his life but even more proud to be a Christian.  His life mission was to show others the love of Jesus through his actions and daily life.   He fought to the end with dignity and strength.  He was happy to be in his home surrounded by those who loved him most.  He would tell everyone, he lived his best life!  Even though Parkinson's had taken so much, it never took his kind heart and big smile!  We were blessed with an extraordinary home health caregiver, Tammy.  She loved him like her own father.  She took remarkable care of him each and every day.  We are all forever indebted to her for the love and care she provided to our daddy. There will never be another one like him!  We are finding peace in that he is healed and seeing Jesus face to face.   We all have comfort knowing we will see him again for eternity.  Due to the current health crisis guidelines we are only allowed to have a private outdoor service.  Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Eastern Area Christian Ministries @ 8002 2nd Avenue South, Birmingham, AL  35206
