Bobbie Minyard

May 29, 1935 — November 4, 2020

Bobbie Jean DeArman Minyard (85) of Birmingham, Alabama passed away November 4, 2020 in the loving home of her daughter Judy and son-in-law Bobby.  She was preceded by her husband Curtis L. Minyard; parents, John and Laura DeArman; her brothers John and Louis; and sisters Jewel, Charlotte, and Mary.  She is survived by her children Judith Minyard Bynon (Bobby), Julia Minyard Simpson (Jim), Lee Minyard (Rose); grandchildren Jim Simpson (Carmen), Jackie Simpson Bates (Mike), Sara Bynon Neely (Chris), Brittany Minyard Whitworth (Jon), Tiffany Minyard, Jonathan Simpson, Brandon Minyard and 7 great grandchildren.

Bobbie Jean was the youngest of 6 children.  She was married to Curt for 54 years and resided in the Forestdale and Trussville area of Birmingham.  She was known for her faith in Jesus Christ and the love of her family.   She was a graduate of Ensley High School and spent most of her work life in the financial area.   Her love of her Savior defined her life and she lived as a light of His love.  Family was her greatest blessing and often meant Sunday dinners featuring her famous fried chicken, holidays with wonderful food and a good cup of coffee, and hunting for plastic Easter eggs filled with cash for the grandkids (equally divided at the end).   Her grandchildren were her light and she always supported them in everything they did.  She loved reading and cross-stitching which resulted in a cherished quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. Her collection of Angels not only filled her home but surrounded her on Wednesday and took her home to her Lord and Savior.  We will miss you mom, Nana, but will continue to honor you until we see you again.  A special thanks to mom’s caregiver, Beverly Thomas, who has been with us for over 6 years ….we couldn’t have cared for her without you, and to Amedisys Home Health for guidance in mom’s care and comfort.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls or your favorite charity.

Services will be graveside at Jefferson Memorial Gardens on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
