William Semk

June 21, 1923 — September 29, 2021

William (Bill) Augusta Semk was born on June 21, 1923 and passed away peacefully on September 29, 2021 at the age of 98.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He was retired from the VA Hospital and a veteran of the US Air Force.  Bill was a faith-filled, devoted Catholic Christian who served in various ministries throughout his life including prison ministry, Fire House Shelter, and pro-life work.  He was a Eucharitic minister, church volunteer, and prayer warrior to the end!
Bill was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Bernice Caterinichia Semk; his second wife of 23 years, Sadie Sharbel Semk; and all of his brothers and sisters: Ann Semk May, Julie Semk Albert, Alex Semk, John Semk, and Stanley Semk.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Sharon (Milton) Weathers of McCalla, Kathy (Harold) Gray of Gardendale, Cindy (Joe) Naro of Birmingham; 2 step children: Steven (Kelly) Sharbel of Birmingham and Theresa Sharbel of Birmingham; 10 grandchildren: Mandy (Brad) Kelly, Brett Weathers, Jacob Gray, Rebekah (Jerrell) Laster, Samuel Gray, Jonathan Gray, Caleb Gray, Jacqueline (Evan) Moorer, Joseph Naro, Julianne Naro; 2 step grandchildren: Shawn Sharbel and Taylor Sharbel; 6 great grandchildren: Cole, Luke, and Hallie Kelly; Jeremiah and Grayson Laster; Micah Gray; 1 step great grandchild: Seth Sharbel.
Visitation will be from 2-3pm on Monday October 4th, at St. Mark the Evangelist, 7340 Cahaba Valley Rd.  Funeral Mass will be at 3pm. Graveside service will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to EWTN or Her Choice Pro-Life Center.
