Walter Larry Sykes

Walter Larry Sykes, age 87, passed away on January 19, 2025. The joy of his life was playing ball and in tournaments with his lifelong friends. He was inducted in the Central Alabama Hall Of Fame in 2004. Larry also loved spending time and playing golf with his friends at the Roebuck Golf Course. He retired from Local #78 after many years. Mr. Sykes was preceded in death by his parents Catherine Jinks Sykes and Walter William Sykes; two siblings Jerry Conrad and Dale Sykes.

Larry is survived by his wife of 61 years Marolyn Sykes; two daughters, Cindy Russo and Karen Sykes; three grandchildren, Andy Russo, Logan Russo and Hunter (Jessica) Russo; great-grandson, Sullivan Russo; two brothers, Robert M. (Sallie) Sykes, Don Earl (Connie) Sykes; one sister, Betty Barnard; brother-in-law, Johnny Jones and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
