Virgie Hughes

Virgie L. Freeze Hughes, age 96, passed away on July 20, 2020. She was born in Prospect, AL and was the daughter of Charlie and Beatrice Smith. Virgie L Freeze Hughes was a member of Hilldale Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, travel and life in general. Virgie will forever be remembered as a loving and generous mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to all that knew her. She is survived by her son Charles “Billy” Freeze (Wanda) and daughter Sandra Crowder (Kenneth); her sister Jean Yonkers (Lloyd); 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Virgie is preceded in death by late husbands Bill Freeze and Forney Hughes, her son Robert “Bobby” Freeze, grand-daughter Stephanie Cosby, and 8 siblings. The funeral will be held on July 24, 2020 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. Visitation will be from 11am-12pm. Service will be held at 12pm.
