Verlie McBrayer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Verlie Bynum McBrayer. Verlie passed away on April 2, 2025, just shy of her 97th birthday. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and aunt and will be missed by many.

Verlie was born in Blount County to John and O'Leva Bynum on May 27, 1928.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy McBrayer, her parents John and O'Leva Bynum, her brothers, Morris Bynum, Boyd Bynum, Carter Bynum and her sister Olean Dean.

Verlie is survived by her sons, Jim (Jan) Hyatt and John (Phoebe) Hyatt, Grandchildren Michael Hyatt (Courtney), Hayden (Kathleen) Hyatt and Kirsten (Barry) Minor, several nieces and nephews and a number of step-children and step-grandchildren.

Verlie was retired from Alabama Power Company after 20+ years of service. She was a member of Springville Methodist Church where she was a member of the Cokesbury Sunday school class. She was a proud member of Warrior Rivers Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Springville UMW, Prayer Shawl Group, Joyful Jammers and enjoyed many years in the Kurly Q's Square Dance Club.

Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Legacy Ridge at Trussville Assisted Living for taking such good care of our mother and loving her like their own.

Visitation will be at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, Trussville, AL on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with graveside service to follow.
