Valarie Joy Jones

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Valarie Joy Jones (Verhey), age 85, of most recently, Margaret, AL. Funeral services will be Friday, December 19th, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Arrangements under the direction of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens. 

Valarie was a beautiful woman who was born in Long Island, NY, and grew up in Staten Island, NY. She moved to Sebastian, FL in 1974, to Springville, AL in 1990, and finally to her last home in Margaret, AL. Affectionately known as "Mom" and "Grandma" among other things such as an artist, mentor, and a historian. She was a devoted animal lover and rescued many dogs during her life. Valarie was a loving and caring woman, known for her unique wit and sense of humor. she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Preceding her in death are her daughters, Lynne and Laura; son, Mark, and her brother, Jay. 

She is survived by her son, Michael Giovanniello; sister, Cyndi Horstmanhof; grandchildren, Carl, Sharryl, Robert, Amber, Amaya, Angela, and Tessa; great grandchldren, Gianna, Angelina, Jaylen, Emma, and Adam; and dear friends, Joyce and Doni.
