Theodore Bates

Theodore "Ted" R. Bates, age 88 of Irondale, AL passed away on December 26, 2012. He was a member of Thomas Baptist Church and was a former pastor at the church. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and then worked for the City of Irondale, AL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, March 24, 1941 through April 8, 1947. He served on the Destroyer USS Jouett. His Destroyer was present in Normandy on D-Day on June 6, 1944. He is survived by his wife, Joyce R. Bates; daughter, Joy D. Daly (Dr. Robert W. Daly); grandson, Shane E. Paschal; several nieces and nephews. Services will be on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 12:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Burial will be at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL at a later date. Rev. Bud Thomason will be officiating over the services. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
