Obituary

Tanner Robert Sheckells, age 28, Passed away on October 7, 2026 in Pinson, Alabama. Born on June 28, 1998, in Burlington, North Carolina.

Tanner grew up with two brothers, Taylor, his eldest brother, and Tripp, his youngest brother, and with his mom, Sandra, and his father, Ron, who loved him very much. He spent part of his childhood in Burlington and the other part in Apex, NC. In his childhood days, this guy loved four-wheelers, trucks, and just the outdoors. At every holiday gathering, you could always hear him ending prayers with an “Amen Now”.

As Tanner grew, he gained the motivation to start his own business. He started his very own tub repair company. He was so motivated to get properties ready at any hour and give them the best service one could get in the industry.

His brothers, Taylor and Tripp, loved all being together. Growing up, they played games, worked out, and laughed about laughing. Just brothers being brothers.

Tanner’s beloved brothers, Taylor and Tripp, miss their brother and feel his life was cut too short.

Tanner is survived by his mother, Sandra; his father, Ron; his eldest brother, Taylor; his youngest brother, Tripp; and his three nieces, Addison, Aubriella, and Ellianna, were so close to him. Tanner loved his family, and he really loved his nieces. He always engaged with them: laughing, joking, playing hide-and-seek, and playing a money-tossing game that was so silly but rewarding. We still don’t know how he came up with it, but the kids loved an opportunity to get some coins.

Tanner is preceded in death by Robert Newsome and Dorothy Newsome, Tanner’s grandparents, were the first to pass. They enjoyed fulfilling lives and played a big part in demonstrating family, love, and God. Tanner is the first of the direct family to pass. A man too young to be gone. He died first, a man full of commitment, never giving up and always ready for the next thing. I have never met a man who kept going like he did. He never wanted to give up.

The family has chosen to cremate Tanner so that he can be with all of us, as close as he can be, in our homes, and feel the warmth of family always with him. He deserves to see life as much as we can give him.

“I remember growing up always wanting to play the same video games with Tanner, staying up late on school nights trying not to wake Mom. When school was out, we would watch movies together and purposely start laughing at each other’s laughter. That would bring us to tears.

Years later, while working the same job, we both talked about how we each wanted to own our own business and someday combine them to create the Sheckells company.

In loving memory, I’ll keep his dream alive.”
