Gardendale, Alabama

Scotty Douglas Hollis, 61, passed away on April 7, 2022, in Gardendale, AL.

Scotty Hollis was born on July 5, 1960 in Birmingham, AL, to Doug and Jerrell Hollis. He was a great big teddy bear with a heart of gold.

In his younger career, Scotty served others working in mortuary services in Sylacauga, AL, as well as a reserve Sheriffs' Deputy. He was a licensed Master Plumber and Pipe Fitter, and a member of the Local Union 91. Throughout his work he made lifelong friends.

Scotty married the love of his life, Mary, and begin a great adventure. He loved Mary without measure, and it was evident by the way he looked at her and the smile on his face. They enjoyed traveling together and had his greatest destination planned to Ireland, spring of 2020, until the pandemic postponed the trip. Blessed and blended, the couple had 3 children, Jackie Lane Hollis-Waller, Molly Bailey, Michael Tyler Dedman.

"Scotty with a Y," was best known for his love of God, Family & Country. However, as a young boy, he took great pride in torturing his younger siblings as a skilled practical joker. He lived for making others laugh, and teasing his nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. He had an exceptional bond with his three siblings and their spouses, and could often find them dining, attending plays, enjoying days at the lake, or planning their next adventure together.

He was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, having served as deacon at New Covenant Fellowship and sang in the choir at Christway Church of God. He loved watching Alabama Crimson Tide football with his family on Fall weekends and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle on beautiful days. He had been an avid bowler, and played on several teams at The SuperBowl, with his father, brother, cousins & friends. He enjoyed playing with and spoiling his four-legged sidekick, Lexie, who absolutely adored him.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his beloved wife Mary D. Hollis, Children, Jackie Lane Hollis-Waller (Dani) of Colorado, Molly Bailey (Chance) of Virginia, and Micheal Tyler Dedman of Florida. One grandson, Asher Bailey.
