Samuel Andrew Pilato Junior resident of Hoover Alabama peacefully passed away surrounded by loving family on August 10, 2025. Sam was born in Birmingham on September 6, 1948. Sam's father Sam was a career senior master sergeant of the United States, Air Force serving in Germany and France
where Sam and his brother Jerry Pilato grew up. Sam graduated from the Toul American high school in France. Before moving to the states Sam served in the military during the Vietnam Era. After returning to the states, Sam earned a degree in real estate. He worked in his uncle's business in construction and brick laying. Later in his career, he established several businesses in the Hoover, Birmingham and Tuscaloosa areas to include Face's deli, Stuffers Pizza The Rockin Horse and The High Note to name a few. Known for his warmth, generosity, and vibrate personality he often shared his favorite saying "it's all about love". That sentiment guided the way he treated friends and family and everyone he met.
Above all, he loved spending time with his grandkids, taking them out on vacation and playing board games.
He cherished his many cousins and Aunt with whom he remained deeply close to throughout his life.
He is survived by his siblings, Sue Massey, Andy Pilato, Jack Pilato and his children Sammy Pilato, Charlie Pilato, Jorden Pilato and Amy Pilato and his stepson's Shane Poer and Jason Poer and nine beautiful grandchildren, who always got a smile and hug on their visits to see their papa.
Funeral services will be held August 19 at 12:30 PM at the Alabama national cemetery 3133 Highway 9119 Montevallo, AL 35115
