Ruth M. Duren, age 100 of Trussville, Alabama died on July, 1st of 2026. Born in Tarrant City Alabama on November 25, 1925. Mrs. Duren attended Jefferson County High School. Mrs. Duren was married to JD for 61 years. Mrs. Duren was a lifetime member of Huffman Baptist Church, and at her passing the oldest active member. Mrs. Duren became a nursery caregiver in the church for many years, where her nickname of “Rooster” was used by many.

Mrs. Duren is survived by her sons, Perry Duren, Jim Duren (Valerie), and Mark Duren. Grandchildren, Wes Duren, Matt Duren, (Emily) and great grandchild Louise Foster Duren. She is also survived by sister Jane Johnson of Charlotte, Anne Johnson, and John Johnson.

Mrs. Duren had the ultimate caregivers, Joyce Quinn, Bettie Powe, Anita Sankey, Cynthia Thomas.

Services for Mrs. Duren will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Good Shepherd portion, graveside on Friday July 3rd at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Huffman Baptist Church. Her service will be officiated by Pastor Larry Smith.

A celebration of life will be planned at her church in the near future.
