Ruby Willene Glover Stewart, 97, of Moulton went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 3, 2026.
Born December 29, 1928 to Willie George and Virginia Lois Richardson Glover, she graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1946 before attending secretary school. She had a long career in retail, working in department stores across Birmingham. Her grandchildren often visited her when she worked behind the jewelry counter at Rich’s at the Brookwood Mall. She is remembered for her chic sense of fashion, and her love for jewelry and scarves.
Willene valued exercise, walking throughout her neighborhood each day, nutrition, staying up to date on the news, and tending to her orchid collection. She loved to travel, Spain, Venice, the Bahamas, Prague, and San Francisco. Any place in the world where there was a beach was where she wanted to be. On her many travels she collected sea shells to commemorate her experiences. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a good neighbor.
Survivors include her children Patricia Stewart Witherspoon (Doug) and Ronald Dean Stewart (Wyna), seven grandchildren; Katie Stewart Conner (Caleb), Taylor Wyna Stewart, Emily Rachael Stewart, Jack Coleman Stewart, Christina Ashley Witherspoon, Elaine Witherspoon Aimon (JT), and Charles Brett Witherspoon, and three great grandchild; Luke Wade Conner, Daphne Aimon, and Otis Aimon.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glen Owen Stewart, her son Wade Owen Stewart, her parents Willie George and Virginia Lois Glover, three brothers Dwayne Glover, Gary Glover, and Gwyn Glover, and one sister, Betty Berteen Glover Jones.
The family extends special thanks to health care professionals at Grandview Medical Center, Encompass Health Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital, and St. Martins in the Pines and Anita Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in her honor to The Friends of Jemison Park to commemorate her favorite walking trails.
