Rosa Yates

February 16, 1950 — February 7, 2022

Rosa Lee Yates, 71, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 7, 2022. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Ralph Yates, and her daughter-in-law, Heidi Norris. She was born and raised in Hackleburg, AL. She enlisted in the United States Marine Corps following her High School graduation in 1969. She served in the Marine Corps until she was Honorably Discharged in 1971. She spent most of her life in the Birmingham area, where she worked as a photographer for PCA International, until her retirement in 2011. She was an avid reader, and loved all forms of puzzles, whether they be Sudoku puzzles or Jigsaw puzzles. She loved going on adventures with her family, and in true Marine fashion, wasn’t scared of anything. She enjoyed tubing down the Chatahootchie River, riding rollercoasters, ziplining, going to water parks, and hiking. She was passionate about helping all of God’s creations, both man and animal. She had taken in 5 dogs, prior to her death, to make sure they were taken care of. She was a woman of immense faith, who would stop and pray with anyone she thought may need the comforting embrace of the Lord. At the time of her death, she was a member of Deerfoot Church of Christ. Rosa is survived by her two daughters; Shannon Norris, and Lashonda Allen (Robert), and a son; David Shon Norris, adopted daughter, Carol Davis Humphres, 6 grandchildren; Dylan Norris, David Michael Norris, Haley Johnson (Damian), Eli Ray, Cadence Allen, and Declan Allen, 2 great grandchildren; Ricky Johnson and Patrick Johnson, 2 brothers; Charles Frederick, and Pete Frederick, her Goddaughter, Shun Riley, and a host of other extended family and friends.
