Ronald Eugene Walters

June 19, 1939 — March 2, 2026

Ronald Eugene Walters, age 86, passed away at the Augusta VA on March 2, 2026.

Ron was passionate about several things- his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family, singing in the choir and senior men’s’ group at church, and Alabama Football. He loved cutting grass and ministering to others by doing small projects, visiting the sick in the hospital, and sending meals to friends in need. A long time member of Ridgecrest Baptist and presently First Baptist Church Trussville, Ron’s faith was central to his life. Even when his world was turned upside down with a catastrophic injury, his faith never faltered. He consistently saw how it could be used to glorify God and bring others to Him. Ron grew up in Columbia, TN and served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Before his retirement, he was an independent insurance agent, owning his own agency, Ron Walters Insurance Agency, on Centerpoint Parkway for over 30 years. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Joe Walters, his mother, Minnie Walters, and five sisters and one brother. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty years, Carolyn; his daughter, Rhonda (John) Shelton; his two cherished grandchildren—Dylan and Josie; his many nieces and grandnieces that are more like sisters; honorary daughters Katrina (John) Barker and Dawn (Chris) Havard, and many other loving family members and friends .Pallbearers are Michael Attar, Ed Hollis, Ron Howard, Dylan Shelton, John Shelton and Jerry Bryant. Honorary Pallbearers are Scottie Beard, Jerry Davis, John Newton, John Stack and Otis Stewart. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Trussville and the Prescott House Child Advocacy Center. Arrangements are entrusted to Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens in Trussville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, with graveside services immediately thereafter.
