Obituary

Robert P. Sparks of Green Pond, 83, passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Robert was born December 17, 1942, in Birmingham, Alabama, to William Sparks Sr. and Annie Mae Sparks. He dedicated a remarkable 65 years to Allright Parking, serving as city manager and remaining a steady hand through decades of name changes and corporate transitions. Few men can say they gave a lifetime to one calling. Robert could.

Outside of work, Robert's greatest joy was his ranch and his horses. He spent countless hours caring for them, working the land, and passing along his love of that life to anyone who would ride along. In the evenings you could usually find him watching a western, the kind of story that matched the man: hardworking, plainspoken, and loyal to the end. Above all, Robert loved his family and made sure everyone around him was cared for and loved.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Diane; his daughter, Rebecca Sparks; and his grandsons Justin Masisak (wife Alodie), Joshua Lewis (wife Sarah), and Tristan Bunn. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William "Bubba" Sparks.

Services will be officiated by Brother Carl Hall. Pallbearers will be Justin Masisak, Joshua Lewis, Tristan Bunn, Ben Quick, Larry Taft, and Russell Sandlin, with Sean Laperuta serving as honorary pallbearer.
