Robert Allen Ferebee, Jr., age 67, known to his family and friends as “Al,” passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 10, at 10:00 AM at The Chapel at Church of the Highlands.
4700 Highlands Way
Irondale, Alabama 35210
Al grew up in Homewood, the son of Peggy Isbell and Robert Ferebee Sr. He graduated from Homewood High school with the class of 1977 where he proudly secured the first Homewood 4A football State Championship.
Al was a proud member of the ATO fraternity at Jacksonville State University, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Al built a successful career in the food service industry, where he was known for his dedication, work ethic, and ability to build long lasting relationships. He spent 24 years with The Hershey Company, receiving the Presidents Cup Award for excellence. He most recently retired from Pecan Deluxe Candy Company, where he served as Director of Foodservice for more than 12 years.
On fall Saturdays, Al could always be found cheering on Alabama football. An Alabama sweatshirt or T-shirt was a staple in his wardrobe, and game days were something he looked forward to every year.
One of Al’s greatest joys was sitting on the porch at his home on the lake, watching the sun set over the water. He rarely missed a chance to capture those peaceful moments, filling his camera roll with sunset photos.
To his grandchildren, Al was lovingly known as “Pop.” They were the light of his life. He was their biggest cheerleader and thoughtfully planned his weekends around attending as many of their games and activities as possible. Being their Pop was one of the roles he treasured most.
Al was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Isbell, and his grandmother, Sally Redrick.
He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply: his devoted wife, Dede Ferebee; his daughters, Holly (Tim) Cornwell and Brooke (Chris) Schmohl; and his five beloved grandchildren, Callie Cornwell, Colton Cornwell, Collins Cornwell, Hannah Schmohl, and Morgan Schmohl. He is also survived by his sisters, Cindy (Ed) Smith and DeAnn Wilson; his father, Robert Ferebee, Sr.; and many other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Big Oak Ranch in Springville, Alabama.
