Richard Thomas Gunter

Richard Thomas Gunter, aged 89, passed away on August 7, 2026, at Grandview Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on April 16, 1937, in Birmingham, Richard was a dedicated and loving individual.

He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1955 and served in the Air National Guard. Continuing his education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he later dedicated 29 years to the US Postal Service in the Birmingham District. Married to Bonnie Mize Gunter for 67 wonderful years, Richard shared a profound connection with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie; his brother Gene Gunter and sister-in-law Sandy; his sons Greg Gunter and wife Audrey, Jeff Gunter and wife Pam; his grandsons Jacob Gunter, Ryan Gunter and wife Hunter, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Ferol Gunter, mother Hazel Gunter Newton, and grandson Keith Wells.

A devoted member of Central Baptist Church in Argo, Alabama, Richard enjoyed watching Alabama football and spending time with his family. Pastor Paul Brasher will officiate the service.
