Donald Randolph “Randy” O’Cain, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on March 3, 2026, at the age of 75.
Randy was born July 24, 1950, in Columbia, South Carolina, to Donald Simmons O’Cain and Claire King O’Cain.
Randy attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity for three years. It was during his time at the university that he met his future wife on a blind date. After dating for three years, they were married on September 8, 1973. In true Randy fashion, he proposed while driving down Highway 31 in Vestavia, and she said yes.
Randy proudly served in the Air National Guard for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his service, he and his team ran the Photo Reconnaissance division of the Air National Guard.
In addition to his military service, Randy spent 40 years at Alabama Power, where he served as Budget Manager in the Corporate Planning Division and built a long and respected career.
Randy was known for his strong work ethic, quick wit, remarkable craftsmanship, and dedication to his family. He enjoyed crafting furniture, knives, and countless other pieces, often building whatever he set his mind to. Above all, he was proud of his family and cherished the time he spent with them.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Simmons O’Cain and Claire King O’Cain.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lisa O’Cain; his daughters, Ashley Grissom (Clark) and Staci O’Cain; and his beloved grandchildren, Hallie Grissom, Ellis Horne, and Cameron Horne.
Even as Alzheimer’s brought new challenges in his final months, Randy met them with the same strength and resilience that defined his life. The love he shared with his family remained constant and will live on through them.
