Phyllis Meek

Phyllis Ann Meek, age 87, of Gardendale, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 15th, 2025. She was born on April 19th, 1938, to Oliver and Blanche Gunnells.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, William “Pro” Meek; her parents; and her sisters, Mabel and Patty. She is survived by her sister, Beth Lindsey; her children, William “Barry” Meek, Leslie Bermas (Harry), and Darrell Meek; grandchildren, BJ (Cristian), Jessica (Josh), Stuart (Keri), Blake (Laura), Logan, Sydney, and Dalton; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Jackson, and Jacie.

Phyllis married the love of her life, William “Pro” Meek, on May 10th, 1958. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from being surrounded by those she loved. Known for her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit, Phyllis had a special way of making everyone feel welcome. She was known for her secret recipes and delicious foods such as her peanut butter fudge and banana pudding treats that will forever bring sweet memories to those who were lucky enough to enjoy them.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her dear friend and caregiver, Sandra Foster, as well as the compassionate nurses and hospice team at UAB Hospital for their care and support. Phyllis’s legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
