Pauline "Polly, Betty" Ratliff at the age of 99 passed away July 2, 2026. Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Robert M "Bob" Ratliff, parents Mary Silver Hammon and John Palokonis, 6(six) siblings, Mary Jane Flower and Dorothy Chasco, brothers John "Jackie" Palokonis, Robert Palokonis and Charles "Pokey" Palokonis, Thomas "Tommy" Palokonis along with 2(two) daughters Sherry Ann Hughes and Margeret Dian Barker.

She is survived by her sons Robert "Bob" Ratliff (Mary) and Scott Ratliff (Dottie) along with grandchildren Robbie Martin, Stephanie Hughes, Steven Hughes, Rachel Ratliff and Sarah Ratliff and great granddaughter Scotti Hughes.

Pauline left her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the age of 16 to join the Army during WWII. Serving state side, she acted as an assistant to a Colonel, something she seemed to have fully enjoyed and was very proud of. It was there that she met her husband Robert "Bob" and they were married only 3(three) weeks later. She volunteered at the local schools and hospitals doing what she could, but it was her passion for sewing that allowed her to do many different things for many people. One of those things, all be it for sad situations, was making burial gowns for infants. While emotionally a tough thing to do, she provided a blessing for families going through a difficult situation while providing her with a purpose for her skills.

Services will be July 10, 2026, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Alabama with visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 with a grave side service to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in her memory.
