Paul Allen Blankenship Sr.

Paul Allen Blankenship, Sr. was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He left this world to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 19, 2024, at the age of 90.  Paul was predeceased by his loving wife, Frances, in February 2022.  Paul spent his final days surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives in service to The Lord.

Paul grew up in the Birmingham, AL area and attended Samford University.  It was at Samford that he met his wife, Frances, whom he would always admiringly refer to as his “Proverbs 31 woman”.  A man of faith and integrity, Paul, was deeply rooted in his spirituality, finding strength and guidance in his relationship with God. His steadfast devotion to his beliefs was evident in every aspect of his life, guiding his actions with honesty, compassion, and unwavering moral principles. He lived by example, inspiring those around him to embrace the virtues of kindness, humility, and forgiveness.   Paul served many years as a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Moody and found strength in the relationships he developed there over the years. 

Paul is survived by his two sons Paul (Carolyn) Blankenship Jr. and Phillip (Sharon) Blankenship; his four grandchildren, Andrew (Shannon) Blankenship, Jessica (Jason) Childers, Kelly (Brent) Watson, and Laura Ryan; and many great-grandchildren.

As we celebrate the life of a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, let us take comfort in the knowledge that he has been reunited with his beloved wife, Frances, in eternal peace. May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 PM (visitation)/2 PM (service) on May 22, 2024, at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens located at 1591 Gadsden Highway Birmingham, AL 35235.
