Patricia Tate

June 8, 1948 — October 6, 2025

Patricia Stubbs Tate, 77, of Birmingham, Alabama, died on October 6, 2025 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

The only child of Roy Elwin Stubbs and Trudy Blondelle Stubbs, Pat was born on June 8, 1948 in Cleveland Ohio. She graduated from Chamblee High School in Chamblee, GA in 1966 and married her college sweetheart, William Merriman Tate, on November 28, 1970.

Pat was a kind and gentle soul with a childlike faith in the Lord whose laughter came easily and often. She was a devoted military wife for over 25 years who delighted in making a home for her husband and two boys in Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, and Alabama. She loved Elvis, Hallmark Christmas movies, puzzles and board games, and was happiest when holding a new grandbaby or having the whole family together. She made the best Christmas fudge ever and never forgot a birthday.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Merriman Tate Jr., survived by her Sons William Tate III and James (Heather) Tate; Grandchildren Jordan (Alexia) Tate, Logan Tate, Jake Tate, John Lewis Tate, Judah Tate, and Molly Kate Tate; Great Grandson Preston Tate.
