Nadine Latham Oliver was born on September 20th 1940 in Birmingham Alabama and passed away peacefully at her home in Smokerise Alabama on May 22nd 2025.Nadine grew up in Gate City Alabama and attended Phillips High School. It was in Gate City that she met the love of her life, Howard Wayne Oliver. On October 20th 1956 at just 16 and 17 years old, Nadine and Wayne drove to Oktibbeha County Mississippi where they were married at 1030 am. After exchanging vows, they returned home - Nadine to her family’s house, Wayne to his.Wayne enlisted in the US Navy in 1957 and the couple’s journey took them to Brunswick Georgia, Jacksonville Florida and Washington DC. Their bond was extraordinary - a love supreme. After Wayne’s naval service, they were inseparable. Their devotion to one another evident to all who knew them. Sadly, Wayne passed away on May 10th 1994 leaving behind a love story that never faded.Following Wayne’s passing, Nadine found joy and purpose in the presence of her beloved granddaughter Lydia whom she lovingly called her “Sunshine”. She also found fulfillment working in the stationary department at the Walmart in Gardendale Alabama for over 20 years alongside her dear friends Debbie and Wanda. Nadine’s acerbic wit and spirited personality made her far too feisty for a greeter’s role - she was where the action was, surrounded by paper, pens and people.Nadine’s warmth, resilience, sharp wit and love for her family will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Flossie Hughes, her sister Gertrude Tinsley, and her beloved husband Wayne Oliver. She will be greatly missed by her son Joseph Oliver, his wife Dr Rebecca Brown, her granddaughter Lydia Oliver and her husband Emerson Oliver, her sister Gaynell Loyed, her nephews Jeff Loyed, her nephew Ronny Loyed, her nephew Wayne Tinsley and his wife Becky Tinsley, their son Tim Tinsley and her great Nephew Tyler Toner and Annika.There will be a half hour of private visitation for family at 1030am Thursday May 29th at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville Alabama. Friends should remain in the lobby until the chapel doors have opened for visitation and service at 11am.
