Myrtle Key

Myrtle Lee Sample Martin Key, age 88, of Birmingham, passed away on Sept. 23, 2019. She was fun-loving, thoughtful and caring. Myrtle was always one to smile and gave others a reason to smile. She loved the Lord, her family and friends, and loved every day of life. She was a member of Dawson Baptist Church. She was an avid square dancer, and a volunteer at Children’s Hospital and Brookwood Hospital. She was preceded in death by her son, Barry Martin; her husband, Buddy Martin; her husband, R.L. Key; her parents, John and Winnie Sample; and all of her siblings. She is survived by her son, Leigh Martin (Sharon); her daughter, Dawn Brook (Roy); her grandsons, Adam and Aaron Brook; great-grandsons, Ryder and Dylan Brook; her sister-in-laws; a whole slew of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, at 10am in the Chapel at Jefferson Memorial Trussville. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
