Celebration of Life for Mr. Michael A. Banks, aka “Trouble”, age 59 of Birmingham, will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. at Church of the Highlands – Grants Mill Location with Pastor Stephen Bischoff officiating.
Michael passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026 in Birmingham. Born in Dover, New Jersey, he lived and traveled to many places throughout his life but spent over the last 20 years in Birmingham, Alabama. Michael was a truck driver for most of his life and enjoyed being on the road. He was a loving husband, devoted father and friend. Michael also loved to go hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers and spending time outdoors. Especially when it was time to mow his grass. He was generous and loved kids. He was proud to donate to “Averitt Cares for Kids” through his work, which supports St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Michael loved to joke and make people smile and laugh, with his quirky sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Neesen Banks, his son, John William Banks, his father, William Francis James Banks, his brother, William Francis James Banks II (Lisa), his sisters-in-law, Linda Neesen and Tina Kohn (Jerry), his nieces, Julia Kohn and Casey Banks, and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ann Covert Banks, his grandparents, Margaret and Herbert Covert, Charles W. Banks, Sr. and Mildred Banks.
