With deep love we celebrate the life of Joanne Roberts, a devoted servant of God, cherished matriarch and radiant soul, who passed away peacefully on May 4th at the age of 83. Though Alzheimer's touched her memory, it never dimmed her spirit.
Born in Birmingham, Joanne devoted her life to her dear husband Ken Roberts, her children & family, her church friends and all those blessed to know her. She was the strength behind so many lives, always listening, always loving, always praying. She served faithfully at Huffman Baptist Church teaching college students, young marrieds, ladies classes and worked in the Activities Building and Church Office alongside the Pastors. In recent years, she enjoyed singing and performing with the Happy Hearts, caring for the Senior Adults and ministering to the precious elderly shut ins. Even in her final years, she offered warm smiles, gentle hands, and a heart full of faith. Joanne leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and resilience.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ken Roberts, her parents, Henry and Mary Hart, her brothers, Joe Hart and Tom (Carolyn) Hart, and her neice, Tina Hooks.
She is survived by her 4 children and their spouses - Mike (Sandra) Roberts, Dedy (Tom) Werk, Jan (Derrick) Blackshear and Joe (Leslie) Roberts. She absolutely adored her Grandchildren - Kyle (Mary) Roberts, Tyler (Sarah) Werk, Morgan (Eric) Roberts, Brooks (Haley) Werk, Molly Werk, Blake Werk (and his fiance,Joanna), Alyssa Werk, Aleah Werk, Lizzie Werk, Rebecca (Josh) Oliver, Brian (Grace) Blackshear, Stephen (Hadley) Blackshear, Jack Roberts, Drew Roberts, and Riley Roberts. She was also blessed with 9 darling Great-Grandchildren!! Joanne loved her large, wonderful extended family on both sides including her nephew, Tom Hart, her brother-in-law Bill (Pat) Roberts and sister-in-law Lynn (Kenneth) Justice, and their children Lynette (Todd) Farley, Bill Roberts, Craig (Kelsey) Justice, Samuel (Laura) Justice, and Kaitlyn (Mike) Parker and many others.
MANY adventures and acts of service were thoroughly enjoyed with her devoted group of lady friends from church! ALL of her family and friends will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. We rejoice today knowing she is now fully restored, embraced by her Savior, and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville, AL. Visitation will begin at 11:00am with the Service starting at 12:00pm. A time of prayer will be held after the service at the graveside.
