Thorne, Martha Elizabeth Thompson

Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Thompson Thorne, longtime resident of Birmingham, AL passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. She was born in Mobile, AL on August 27, 1926.

She is a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and a former member of

Ruhama Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 56 years,

Joseph Odell "Pete" Thorne and three children: son, Joseph Michael Thorne, Bham, Al,

and children, Callie Angelena Thorne and Joseph Gaeton Thorne, Bham, AL; daughter,

Elizabeth Belle Thorne Happy of New York, NY, and husband, Robert Carroll Happy, Jr.,

and children: Sophie Ella Silkes, Katherine Grace Happy, and Robert Carroll Happy, III;

and son, Stephen Drew Thorne of Williamsburg, VA, and wife, Gina Pilar dePeralta Thorne and son, Ethan Hyatt Thorne.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thorne, led by Dr. Neal Schooley, Dawson Memorial Baptist

Church, will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville, AL at 11:00am, Saturday, May 18, 2013. The family will receive friends at 10:00am, prior to service. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens' Last Supper mausoleum.
