Martha B. Ellis

July 20, 1938 — June 16, 2025

Martha was born on July 20, 1938 to Frank C. Brown, Sr. and Winnie M. Brown in Jonesboro, Georgia. She was the second youngest of six children. She married her beloved husband, William "Bill" Randall Ellis on May 21, 1960. She worked as a dental hygienist for many years including for the Army at Fort Bragg while her husband was serving in Korea. Bill and Martha were married 62 years upon his death. The had two children, Randy (Sharon) Ellis and Caroline Ellis (Lee Ledbetter), three grandchildren, Galen (Nicci) Ledbetter, Bailey (Andy) Driver and Alaina Ellis (Shawn Hector), and 3 great-grandchildren, Ezra, Emmett and Eli Ledbetter. Martha loved quilting, traveling and gardening. She was a long time member of Birmingham Quilters Guild and the "Herb Army" at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, where she had many wonderful and cherished friends.

Martha was a devoted wife, amazing mother and grandmother, a dedicated volunteer and cherished friend to many. Her spirit will live on with all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

Special thanks and praise to everyone at AmeriCare Home Health and Affinity Hospice, especially Emma and Sam, her favorites.

A celebration of Martha's life will be held at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in the Hodges Room on July 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm with visitation and fellowship to follow until 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Martha requested donations be made to Blount County, Alabama Animal Shelter or St. Jude Foundation.
