Martha "Joan" Duncan

Funeral Services for Ms. Martha “Joan” Duncan, age 86 of Gardendale, will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining gardens.

Ms. Joan passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at her daughters home. Born in Jefferson County, she graduated from Woodlawn High school. She worked for many hospitals, including East End Memorial and Children's Hospital of Alabama for over 40 years as a Patient Care Technician. After retiring from Children's Hospital, Ms. Joan went on to work at Jack’s off Mt. Olive Road for the last several years. She enjoyed going dancing with her friends, especially Bill, tending to her ferns and especially loved her roses. Ms. Joan also enjoyed watching her hummingbirds, thrift shopping and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, William “Billy” Davies (Sandy) and Cheri Haynie (Randy Allen), three grandchildren, Joshua Davies, Lindsey Sisson (Chris) and Justin Haynie (Bethany) two great-grandchildren, Andrew Sisson and James Haynie, her brother, Perry Walls (Bobbie), her special friend, Bill Jones and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Beatrice Walls.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 11:00 A.M. until service time at 12:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home.
