Marie Brasell

Marie Chance Brasell, born September 3, 1927, in Selma, AL, the daughter of Helen Dear Morgan and James Bruce Chance, died Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Fair Haven. She was preceded in death by her son Glenn Lidell Brasell, Jr, and her husband Glenn Lidell Brasell, Sr. Survivors include her three children, Beverly Jean Brasell (Joseph Slane), R. Bruce Brasell, and Patricia Brasell Murray (Alan); three grandchildren, Tiffany Sealy Kemp, Francis Trevor Sealy, and Winston Dory Sealy; and three great grandchildren, Michael Chance Stembridge, Ashton Grace Kemp, and Tatum Marie Sealy. Marie grew up in Pine Hill, AL living with her mother and brother in her grandparent’s house with no running water and no electricity. She always told her children, “Life is about people, not things.” She died on the Forth Sunday of Advent when we light the Love candle. Her hospice person that night was Angel, and her Fair Haven nurse was Grace. She died surrounded by Love and Grace and Angel(s) which is the way she lived. A graveside service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Thursday, December 30, at 12:00. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to do something for “one of the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) as a way to honor Marie’s generosity.
