Margaret Hampton

MARGARET HESTER POTTER HAMPTON, age 94, passed away February 1, 2012 at St. Martin in the Pines. She was the last remaining child of eight siblings (4 brothers and 3 sisters) of Joe Potter, Sr. and Katie Goad Potter. She was also preceded in death by her husband Reed Clebert Hampton and grandsons Tim and Jeff Vise. She is survived by daughter Jeanne Hampton Vise and husband Larry, daughter Linda Hampton, son Thomas Reed Hampton and wife Jane. Grandchildren Scott Vise and wife Ginger, Susan Vise, Paige Hampton White and husband Troy, Paula Hampton Clements and husband Chris. Great-grandchildren Christopher, Lauren, Cody and Kaitlyn Vise, Tyler and Brody White, Charlie and Zoe Clements and a host of nieces and nephews. She was born in Nashville, TN. and moved to Birmingham as a child. A graduate of Phillips High School class of 1935 and a longtime member of Central Church of Christ. Margaret was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and devoted friend. She was a great cook known by family and friends for her fabulous chocolate skillet pie. The family wishes to thank St. Martin in the Pines Cottages, James House, for their loving care and dedicated service. Visitation will be at 11:00 A.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville and funeral service will follow at 12:00 Noon in the chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
