Luther Roberts

Luther "Ray" Roberts, 91, of Birmingham, AL passed away on March 29, 2011. He was a graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, AL. Ray served in 2nd and 3rd Armies in WWII and participated in 3 campaigns, North France (Patton's 3rd Army), Rhineland and Central Europe. He was employed with Brookley Field Air Force Base in Mobile, AL for 18 years. He also was a partner in Roberts Cafeteria and was a self employed-builder. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Michael Roberts; parents Verner and Maude Roberts, five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Faye Burch Roberts; daughters, Esther Roberts Griggs of Birmingham, AL and Barbara Roberts Fincher (David) of Burns, TN; grandchildren, Matthew David Fincher, of Midland TX and Ashley Renee Fincher of Knoxville TN; and several nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31 beginning at 12:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Chapel services at 2:00 PM and burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
