Lora Mae, age 95, of Birmingham, AL, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2026.
Lora Mae was born on February 13, 1931, in Weir, MS, to the late John McPherson and Dovie McPherson. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found joy in caring for her home and family. She loved cooking and spending time visiting with friends and loved ones. She always had a smile on her face, and her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Mower (Johnny), Johnnie Dee Cole, and Mary Louise McPherson; her brother, Marion McPherson; her beloved husband of 65 years, John William Cobb; her son, Byron Cobb; her son-in-law, Gary Heflin; her brothers-in-law, Bennie Cobb, Tommy Alvin Cobb, Billy Calvin Cobb (Sara), Robert Cobb (Creasie), and David Cobb; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Jackson (Rufus).
Lora Mae is survived by her daughter, Sandra Heflin of Birmingham; her sister-in-law, Barbara Cobb of Lucedale, MS; many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, relatives, neighbors, and friends; grandchildren: Lee Heflin and William Heflin of Birmingham, AL; Lynn Yousif (Nidal) of Hoover, AL; Loretta Martone (Luke) of Huntsville, AL; great-grandchildren: Austin Isbell and Isla Gass.
Visitation for Lora will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 2, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Her funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, with Reverend Keith Best officiating. Her great-grandson, Austin Isbell, will deliver a eulogy, followed by a reading by her granddaughter, Loretta Martone. Burial will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville.
