Obituary

Kurt Warren Kralovec, 70, of Trussville, Alabama, passed away on October 18, 2026, in Birmingham. He was born on October 25, 1955, in Appleton, Wisconsin, one of ten children of Earl and Marie Kralovec.

Kurt was a hard worker through and through, and he took pride in a job done right. He spent many years in construction as a project manager, a career that moved him all around the country before he and his family settled in Trussville in 1991. He made his home there for the rest of his life. A skilled and passionate carpenter, he went on to work at Building Specialties (BSCO) for nine years before retiring. Retirement didn't slow him down for long. He spent his last twelve years at Bass Pro Shops, which he always called his "fun job".

Kurt's true gift was woodworking. He built beautiful furniture, hand mirrors, and wooden boxes, and he was known for being meticulous in everything he made. He was the all-around handyman everyone called on, and he was always ready to help his daughter with her latest project. He loved firing up the grill. He also had a famous sweet tooth and rarely started a morning without something sweet for breakfast. Wherever he lived, he stayed a Wisconsin boy at heart and a devoted Green Bay Packers fan.

Above all, Kurt loved his family. He and Deborah shared 41 years of marriage, and almost every year since their wedding they took a family vacation to Orlando, Florida, a tradition that created a lifetime of memories.

Kurt was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marie Kralovec; his daughter, Ashley Kralovec; and his brother, Dennis Kralovec.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Kralovec; his daughter, Melanie Gallant, and her husband, Trace; his grandchildren, Breeden, Brooks, and Brecken Gallant; and his siblings, Paul (Nancy) Kralovec, Lee Kralovec, Sherry (Ron) Swanson, Mary (Kevin) Tallant, Brian (Gaylene) Kralovec, Bruce (Lee) Kralovec, Beth (Lew) Visscher, and Tricia Schmitt; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 8, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ferus Artisan Ales in Trussville. Kurt's family has planned it around the Packers game, which kicks off at 3:25 p.m. Everyone is invited to wear green and gold or their favorite Packers gear. Come share stories, remember Kurt, and cheer on his team together, just as he would have wanted.
