Kathryn Mayo Candresse died August 7, 2008 in Birmingham, Alabama. Born May 29, 1953, she was a native of Birmingham, and had lived near Bordeaux, France for the past twenty-two years.

A graduate of E.B. Erwin High School and Auburn University, she earned her masters degree in plant pathology at Pennsylvania State University. Kathy was a teacher and researcher in microbiology at the University of Bordeaux.

She is survived by her husband Thierry Candresse and her daughter Camille of Gradignan, France. The daughter of the late Patty Bradley, she is also survived by her father John C. Mayo and his wife Mary Etta of Birmingham, brother John P. Mayo and his wife Ellen of Nashville, Tennessee, and sister Donna Mayo and her husband Forrest Duncan of Birmingham. Her surviving nieces and nephews are Bradley, Mimi, and Anna Mayo of Nashville, Gray Vargas of State College, Pennsylvania, and Caroline and Graham Duncan of Birmingham. She is also survived by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jacqueline and Guy Candresse of La Hume, France, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her family will receive friends at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville, on Friday evening, August 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Jefferson Memorial on Saturday morning, August 9, at 10:00 a.m.
