Kathleen Owens

BIRMINGHAM - Kathleen Blake Owens, 101, of Birmingham, departed this life on May 21, 2021. A graveside service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.

Kathleen was born January 1, 1920, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a 1938 graduate of Woodlawn High School. She later obtained her teaching degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and began a career in teaching. She taught Math and English and retired from Briarwood Christian School in 1985. She was a longtime member of South Roebuck Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Paullard "Paul" Owens; parents, Victor Crawford Blake and Kathleen Livingston Blake; sisters, Carolyn Smith, Frances Bagley, and Stewart Jordan; and a son-in-law, Joe Stockton.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula (Mike) Sumrall of Spanish Fort, Peggy Stockton of Birmingham, and Judy Motlow of Mobile; grandchildren, Heath (Tina) Stockton of Locust Fork, Will (Amanda) Motlow of Florence, and Katie (Nathan) Payne of Birmingham; and nine great-grandchildren.
