Joyce Linderman Knight, 98 of Birmingham, Alabama, born February 1, 1928, peacefully fell asleep in Jesus, May 9, 2026, at her home with her family. She was the fifth of seven children that grew up on Pine Mountain, Alabama and was the last surviving sibling. Her parents were Dumas E. and Fredericka Schmonsees Linderman, and her siblings were Richard Linderman, Mary Flake, Beryl Everett, Louise King, Herman Linderman, Ruth Linderman.
Joyce graduated from Fletcher Academy in 1946 and the Fletcher Nursing School in 1950, located in North Carolina. Her career in nursing spanned almost 40 years at the University of Alabama in Birmingham Hospital, working primarily in Labor & Delivery and Cardiovascular Intensive Care. She married Jackson Knight in 1953 and they were married 60 years until his passing in 2013. She was a life-long member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and a charter member establishing the Roebuck SDA Church in Birmingham.
She is survived by her children Suzanne (Brian) Roach and Stanley (Valeri) Knight; five grandchildren, Ryan (Jaclyn) Knight, Robin (Tim) Brown, Ross (Meggan) Knight, Jeffrey (Rochelle) Roach, John Roach; and ten great grandchildren.
