John Spruell

John Spruell, 88, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, and Great-grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on November 21, 2025. He entered this world on August 17, 1937 in Moulton, AL, born to Rufus and Pauline Spruell. He is survived by his wife Shirley Spruell; son John R Spruell Jr; daughter Tracy Blackwell (Aaron); granddaughter Ashley Harrison. grandson Bradley Blackwell (Morgan); granddaughter Kimberly Parsons (Taylor); granddaughter Amanda Dement (Zane); granddaughter Sarah Thrasher (Tim); great-grandson Jayce Harrison, great-granddaughter Kynzlee Harrison, great-granddaughter Emilia Blackwell, great-granddaughter Emersyn Parsons, great-granddaughter Elaine Blackwell, great-granddaughter Alice Thrasher and great-granddaughter Ambyr Thrasher.

John served in the Army from 1962- 1964. He loved God, loved family, fishing, hunting and woodworking. He was Secret Service for President JFK. He served in the Homewood police department for 35 years until retirement.

Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025 from 11:00-12:00. Services to follow at 12:00 pm with graveside to follow at Forrest Crest Cemetery
