Joe Selman

Joe Carl Selman, 83 of Birmingham passed away on Friday, November 7, 2008. Joe had lived in Chicago for 12 years and then moved to Alabama. He was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church in Springville and a veteran of World War II. Joe had retired from the VA Hospital after 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Jean; his children, Jerry Wayne Selman (Theresa), Cynthia M. Brownlee (Lynn), Myra Jo Evans(Bob) and Sandra Zaharek; 14 grandchildren, including Jodie Harrison (Zach), Matthew Brownlee (Stephanie), Michael Brownlee (Joanne), Christopher Brownlee, Johnny Reno, Andy Zaharek and Tracy Camp; 13 great-grandchildren including Taylor Brooke Harrison, Tana Beth Harrison, Mary Kate Brownlee, and Emily Caroline Brownlee; and two great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9 from 5:00 i�½" 7:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 10 at 1PM with Rev. Barry Britt officiating in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
