Jerod C. Highfield

Jerod Highfield, age 38 of Leeds, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Grandview Medical Center.

Jerod was born on June 22, 1988 in Alabama. He graduated from Erwin High school in 2006. Starting at 12 years old, Jerod developed a love for Dungeons & Dragons and played for over 26 years. He was a member of the City of Leeds and Irondale D&D Adventure’s Leagues, a beloved member of the gaming community and enjoyed being an online community creator. Jerod enjoyed spending his time writing Sci-Fi and fantasy stories, being a professional Dungeon Master, local podcaster and storyteller. In 2005, he met his future wife, Monica, on Gaia Online, where they would write stories back and forth together. Their relationship grew and deepened from there, and in 2013, they were married in Texas. Monica and Jerod moved back to Alabama together in 2016. Jerod also spent over 10 years in the Grocery Industry, working for Kroger and Publix in the meat and seafood departments. Jerod was a warm and kind soul, devoted to bringing people together in friendship both in real life and in online communities. He was a loving husband, dog and cat dad, brother, son, uncle and friend that will be dearly missed by all those that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Monica Highfield, his dogs, Rosie and Arwen, his cats, Grimli and Marble, his siblings, Nia Jones, Jesse Bown, Hallie McGrory and Hunter Highfield, his step-brother, Forrest Taylor, his mother, Stacie Robinson (Chris), his nephews, Bryce, Cooper and Walker McCrory, and his maternal grandfather, Wyman Lee, along with a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jon Craig Highfield, his paternal grandparents, Charles and Vicki Highfield, and his maternal grandmother, Wanda Fred Lee.

David Ryan Hensley, Patrick Lindsey and Cory O’Quinn Price will serve as honorary pallbearers.
